And hundreds of millions more carry another country, city, town or village in their hearts — through parents, grandparents, family, memories, culture, friendship and love.

Maybe you are one of them.

Maybe United States is where you were born. Or maybe United States became part of your story another way.

Maybe your parents came from here. Maybe someone you love still lives here. Maybe you visited once and never forgot it. Or maybe it is simply a place you hope to see someday.

That is why TimTim.Live is here.

Where you live today and where you feel at home do not always have to be the same place.

My musical journey begins with Haitian Konpa, the rhythm I heard everywhere growing up. It is the music of my childhood, my memories and part of who I am.

Today, through TimTim.Live, I am taking that rhythm with me on a musical journey around the world — creating songs inspired by countries, cities, towns, villages, people and places I have visited, places I have learned about, and places I still dream of discovering someday.

United States is part of my own story too.

But I want something to be very clear:

This song is not meant to define the culture of United States. Its own artists and traditions tell that story better than I ever could.

I am sharing the music I grew up with as a musical greeting from my home to yours.

From Haiti… and now my hometown of Washington, DC, USA… to wherever you call home.

Music does not need a passport.

Music can cross a border long before we do. You do not have to speak the same language. You do not have to come from the same country. You don’t even have to understand every word.

Music asks only one question:

Will you listen?

And if you hear a Haitian Konpa beat carrying the name or memory of a place close to your heart, I hope it makes you smile.

I hope the music carries you back to a memory of United States.

I hope it reminds you of someone. I hope it brings back loving memories.

And for those of us living far from the places where we grew up, I hope that for a few minutes… home feels a little closer.
