For music lovers everywhere
Independent artists from every corner of the world, and a set of recommendations that starts from what you actually say you like — not from what happens to be popular this week.
One screen. It takes about a minute.
What music do you like? There are 30 to tap, from Konpa to Amapiano to Andean music, and you can tap none of them and still have an account.
After you are in, there are 4 more things we would love to know — the languages you like to hear music in, the moods you reach for, which decades, and the instruments you love. Every one of them is optional, and skipping one is remembered so we do not keep asking.
A sign-up should not feel like paperwork.
Five promises about your data, in the order they matter. These are the rules the code is built around, not a policy written afterwards.
Tap what you like, tell us who you are, and you are in. You can stop right there — the rest is a bonus.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There is no fee to join, no subscription, and no card. Artists on this platform choose how their own music is offered, and much of it is free to everyone.
What is Music DNA?
Two things, kept apart. The first is what you tell us — the genres, languages and moods you tap on this page. The second is what your listening shows over time. Recommendations combine them, and the first one is never edited by the second.
How long does signing up take?
One screen. Your name, your email, a password, and as many or as few genres as you feel like tapping. You can finish having tapped none of them.
Do I have to answer the questions?
No. Genres are asked first because they are the most useful thing to know, and even those are optional. Everything after the first screen is a bonus you can walk away from, and a question you skip is remembered so you are not asked it again every time you visit.
Will my email be linked to what I listen to?
No. Your account holds your email. Your taste and your listening history are stored against an account number instead, so the tables that describe your music do not contain your address.
I said I like reggae but I only ever play jazz. What happens?
Jazz wins, and your answer stays where you put it. Your listening gradually carries more weight than the signup answer, so the recommendations follow the jazz — but the answer you gave is still there in your settings, unchanged, for you to keep or correct.
Can I stop the platform learning from me?
Yes, and it is a real switch rather than a preference we weigh up. With learning off, nothing you do trains anything. Turning it back on later does not retroactively hand over the sessions that happened while it was off.
Is my listening public?
No. Your listening history is yours. It is never shown on a public profile and never returned for anybody else.
Can I pick a language for the site and a different one for the music?
Yes, and they are deliberately two different questions. Reading the site in English and listening in Haitian Creole is completely ordinary, and the second question is asked in the optional step.
The world has a lot of music in it.
