The rhythm I carry on this journey comes from the Haitian Konpa I grew up with. It is the music of my childhood, my memories and part of who I am.
Today, through TimTim.Live, I am taking that rhythm with me on a musical journey around the world — creating songs inspired by countries, cities, towns, villages, people and places I have visited, places I have learned about, and places I still dream of discovering someday.
I am still learning about Indiana, and I hope to see it with my own eyes someday.
But I want something to be very clear:
This song is not meant to define the culture of Indiana. Its own artists and traditions tell that story better than I ever could.
I am sharing the music I grew up with as a musical greeting from my home to yours.
From Haiti… and now my hometown of Washington, DC, USA… to wherever you call home.
Music does not need a passport.
Music can cross a border long before we do. You do not have to speak the same language. You do not have to come from the same country. You don’t even have to understand every word.
