It contains 6 villages and 2 towns with a combined population of about 20,830. The largest are Simojovel de Allende (10,762), Nuevo Sitalá (2,101), and La Pimienta (1,755). It lies 3.1 km south-east of Huitiupán. Its nearest neighbours are Huitiupán (3.1 km), El Bosque (11 km), and José María Morelos y Pavón (11 km). It was established in 1915.
