It contains 7 towns and 4 neighborhoods with a combined population of about 198,611. The largest are Ōizumi-gakuenchō (34,557), Hikarigaoka (26,127), and Sakuradai (25,537). It lies 2 km north-west of Numabukuro. Its nearest neighbours are Egota (1.6 km), Saginomiya (1.8 km), and Numabukuro (2 km). It was established in 1947.
