It contains 11 districts with a combined population of about 30,000. The largest is Mu‘tamadīyat ar Rudayyif (30,000). Its nearest neighbours are Menzel Bouzaiane (40 km), Ben Aoun (41 km), and Bir el Hafey (51 km). It was established in 1956.
