📍 Archange, Guadeloupe
More than 304 million people live outside the country where they were born.
And hundreds of millions more carry another country, city, town or village in their hearts — through parents, grandparents, family, memories, culture, friendship and love.
Maybe you are one of them.
Some places stay with us long after we move away. Maybe Archange is one of yours.
Maybe your parents came from here. Maybe someone you love still lives here. Maybe you visited once and never forgot it. Or maybe it is simply a place you hope to see someday.
That is why TimTim.Live is here.
Where you live today and where you feel at home do not always have to be the same place.
I grew up with the sound of Haitian Konpa. It is the music of my childhood, my memories and part of who I am.
Today, through TimTim.Live, I am taking that rhythm with me on a musical journey around the world — creating songs inspired by countries, cities, towns, villages, people and places I have visited, places I have learned about, and places I still dream of discovering someday.
Archange is close to my own story, and I am still discovering it.
But I want something to be very clear:
This song is not meant to define the culture of Archange. Its own artists and traditions tell that story better than I ever could.
I am sharing the music I grew up with as a musical greeting from my home to yours.
From Haiti… and now my hometown of Washington, DC, USA… to wherever you call home.
Music does not need a passport.
A melody does not ask what country is printed on your passport. You do not have to speak the same language. You do not have to come from the same country. You don’t even have to understand every word.
Music asks only one question:
Will you listen?
And if you hear a Haitian Konpa beat carrying the name or memory of a place close to your heart, I hope it makes you smile.
Maybe one song cannot take you back to Archange, but perhaps it can take your memories there.
I hope it reminds you of someone. I hope it brings back loving memories.
And for those of us living far from the places where we grew up, I hope that for a few minutes… home feels a little closer.
If Archange is your community, I would love to learn about it from the people who know it best.
Tell me about its people. Tell me about its music. Tell me what makes it special.
Tell me about the places someone should see, the stories they should know, and the things people who were born there never forget.
