Nearly forty years later, the guitar found its way back into his hands. “Gita Blan” is the song of that homecoming: a dream delayed, never abandoned, and finally answered.

The Culture Behind It
Konpa was born in Haiti in the 1950s, built for one purpose: to get a room full of people dancing together, no matter what else was going on outside. Nemours Jean-Baptiste shaped that sound, and every Konpa song since carries a piece of it.

Because the guitar coming back wasn't planned — it just happened, the way the best true stories do. I wanted to write it down in a song before I forgot how it felt.
