Your music, your answers

Your Music DNA.

Everything we believe about your taste, on one page, in words you can read. What you told us is on one side. What your listening shows is on the other. They are never mixed up, and you can change either of them.

See it
Everything you told us, in your own words, beside everything we worked out on our own — clearly marked as two different things.
Fix it
One tap changes an answer, and one link takes it off your list. Your answers are yours; we never edit them.
Stop it
One button stops us learning from what you play, for good or for now, without touching your account or your answers.
Show me what you have →

You need to be signed in, because it only shows your own answers.

Two different things, kept apart

A platform that asks you what you like, and then quietly replaces your answer with a guess from your listening, has taken something from you. So we never do that. Your answer is one thing and our guess is another, and this page shows you both.

The sign-up asks 5 questions and every one of them is optional. Whatever you answered — including nothing at all — is what you will find here, unchanged, however long you have been listening.

Your words are yours. Our guesses are ours, and you can throw them away.

What the buttons on this page really do

Six plain statements. These are the rules the code is built around, not a policy written afterwards.

  • What you said is never overwritten by what you play. Your listening gradually gets a bigger say in what we play you next, and your answer stays exactly where you put it.
  • Nothing on the “we noticed” side of this page is presented as something you said. It is a guess from your listening, it is labelled as one, and you can wipe it without losing a single answer.
  • Stopping learning is a switch, not a preference we weigh up. With it off, nothing you play trains anything.
  • Turning learning back on does not hand over the sessions that happened while it was off. Those were never stored as something to learn from.
  • Where you live does not change what we play you unless you say so on this page. We do not guess your music from your country.
  • Your email is not on this page and is not attached to your listening. Your taste is kept against an account number instead.

Everything we have

Tap to change an answer and it saves as you go. There is no form to submit and nothing to remember to press.

Questions & Answers

What is the difference between the two columns?

The left one is you. It is the answers you gave, word for word, and nothing but you can change them. The right one is us: what we worked out from the music you played. We keep them apart because they answer different questions, and because we might be wrong about the second one.

I said I like reggae but I only ever play jazz. What will this page show me?

Reggae on the left, still there, exactly as you said it, with a note that lately you have been listening to it hardly at all. Jazz on the right, marked as something you never told us. Your recommendations will follow the jazz, and your answer will keep saying reggae until you change it.

What does “stop learning from me” actually do?

From the moment you press it, nothing you play teaches us anything. It is a switch rather than a preference we weigh up: playing music, saving songs and using your account all carry on working, and none of it trains anything.

If I turn learning back on, do you get everything from while it was off?

No. Whether something can be learned from is decided at the moment it happens, so the times you listened while learning was off were never kept as something to learn from. There is nothing there for us to go back and take.

What is the difference between forgetting what you noticed and taking an answer off my list?

Forgetting what we noticed wipes our guesses and keeps every answer you gave. Taking an answer off your list deletes something you said. One is about our conclusions, the other is about your words, and they are two separate buttons for that reason.

Does where I live change what you play me?

Not unless you ask for it on this page. It starts switched off for everybody, including people who never gave us a location at all. Guessing somebody's music from their country is stereotyping, and it is a bad guess besides.

Can I see this page without an account?

No, and that is the point. It only ever shows you your own answers, so signing in is the whole of how we know whose answers to show. There is no version of this page that shows somebody else's music.

Will you show me a score or a percentage?

No. We will tell you that you play something a lot, now and then, or hardly at all. A number would need explaining, and it would invite you to argue with an arithmetic you never chose.

Nothing here is a secret from you.
