ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ ആരംഭത്തിൽ ഗാനരചയിതാവായി മാറിയ ഒരു പശ്ചിമ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ സംഗീതമാണ് ഹൈദരാബാദ്. ആ പ്രദേശത്തെ ജനപ്രീതിയാർജിച്ച സംഗീതങ്ങളിലൊന്നായി അത് മാറി.
Origin & history
Highlife developed in coastal Ghana in the early 1900s, as brass-band and dance-band instrumentation met local Akan musical traditions.
It spread to Nigeria and across West Africa through the mid-century, and its guitar styles and horn arrangements run underneath a great deal of later West African popular music, Afrobeats included.
