L'alta vida és una música de ball de l'Àfrica Occidental que va prendre forma a Ghana al principi del segle XX, s'uneix a les tradicions mòdriques i ritmes a instruments de ball occidental. Es va convertir en una de les música basel populars de la regió i va formar molt del que va seguir.
Origin & history
Highlife developed in coastal Ghana in the early 1900s, as brass-band and dance-band instrumentation met local Akan musical traditions.
It spread to Nigeria and across West Africa through the mid-century, and its guitar styles and horn arrangements run underneath a great deal of later West African popular music, Afrobeats included.
